This Vs. That: After by Anna Todd

SO after all the wait I finally got around to watching the movie and honestly it was just as weird and crazy as the book. The book and the movie seemed like they were really similar in some parts and in others I felt as if they were two completely different things.

****SPOILERS****
The best aspect of the movie: The movie really toned down all their character which made them way more likable than in the book cause to be honest most of them where just asses in the book. In the movie the relationship between Hardin and Tessa was much sweeter, Hardin wasn't as big of an jerk and they showed his affection for Tessa well. I really enjoyed how their relationship played out and how they portrayed the bet better here than in the book. The ending was also better than in the book because while it didn't end with a happily ever after, it definitely wasn't as tragic.  I also found a lot of the other characters to be really likable in the movie. Tessa's relationship with her mom was better as well as her relationship with Steph.

The not so great parts about the movie: The movie started off really fast and it felt like they just jumped from scene to scene without it actually making a lot of sense unless you read the book, the first few minutes just seemed really rushed. The characters also said things at the most random time where it didn't coincide with the book and it just seemed out of place. There were just so many moments what were like why the heck would you say that right now.

Compared to the book the movie seemed rushed and of lot of the important aspects of the book were left out which I would have liked to see. Also characters were missing that were in the book and some characters that should't have been in scenes were present. But the movie had a more romantic aura for the chick flick category they were aiming for.

Overall I would say that the movie and the book were equally good but for different reasons, but they were both extremely dramatic and should be read and seen at your own discretion.

Shazam

Image result for shazam

When I saw the trailer for Shazam I knew that I did NOT want to see this movie. I love all the super hero movies but when I saw this one and was just like nope this is not for me. However I still ended up at the movie theater to watch this movie with my family. The first thing I thought was that I was wrong. After the first few minutes I knew that I was going to like it. The movie held a lot of the charm that all super hero movies do except it was a lot more kid friendly. I was worried that  because this movie was targeting a younger crowd it wouldn't be something adults would like to watch. But the movie was well balanced as was able to entertain all age groups. This movie was really funny and I would definitely watch it again.

After by Anna Todd

After I saw the trailer for this movie, which comes out tomorrow I decided that I was going to read the books. The trailer for the movie looked good but it did not prepare me for the things that occurred in the book. This book was interesting without a doubt but it was absolutely insane. I have never read something with so much drama and backstabbing. Don't get me wrong Hardin is hot, Tessa is sweet, and this book is just hard to put down but just because so much is going on you want to know what will happen next. As the story unfolded before me and more things were revealed I couldn't help but feel betrayed as if I were in the book myself. The things that went down left me heartbroken and I was left wondering how I didn't see it coming. I normally don't like stories with a lot of drama like this one but if you do like more dramatic books I would recommend this one.

However considering the fact that I read this book in preparation for the movie I must say I'm not really sure how they made a movie out of it. The whole book was made up of many tragic situations towards the main character and I don't know if it will translate well on screen. Also the movie is going to be a PG13 movie which the book is definitely not, so it will be interesting to see what they did with that. I also don't know how this movie will go because from looking at the trailer this movie falls more into the chick flick category and those tend to have a happy ending so I can only hope for the same with this one because if it has the same ending as the book I will be disappointed. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

This Vs. That: To All The Boys I've Loved Before

To all the boys I loved before was such a crowd-pleaser when it arrived on Netflix. I was literally obsessed with this movie. I watched it a good six times and was still in love with the movie and Peter as much as I was the first time I saw it. I talked about this movie for like a solid two weeks straight. I convinced many of my friends to see it, I even got some of my male friends to watch it alone. Everyone seemed to like it as much as I did. However because movies are short on time the movie missed a lot of important information that was important to Lara Jean's character.

I liked it so much I decided to go ahead and read the books. I was really excited about it because everyone knows that the books are always better than the movies. However I found that in this case that was not true. I found the book trilogy only held maybe half the charm of the movie. Peter wasn't as sweet as he was in the movie. Chris wasn't a good a friend as she was in the movie. And overall many of the scenes in the movie that were sweet like the hot tube scene (prior to the video being posted of course) had a completely different context in the book that made you think twice about how much you really liked the characters.

If I were to have read the book first I might have liked it more but all things considered I definitely loved the movie more than the book. And if you really loved the movie I may even go as far as to say don't read the books because its definitely not as good in my opinion, but if you haven't seen the movie log on to your Netflix account ASAP and get on it!
